This past December we hosted our first annual Affordable Christmas event. For those unfamiliar with Affordable Christmas, we set up a pseudo-retail shop within our building where low-income parents could buy Christmas gifts for their children at a heavily discounted cost. This year we had parents from 10 families, totaling 27 children, come and shop.

One of Karis’s three guiding principles is community. God’s gospel community knows no bounds; it loves and learns past physical and cultural differences. It empowers Karis Church to partner within our city, with our missionaries and with Restore Brazil to further the name of Christ and the story of His sacrifice.

I have always been a bit impatient and constantly waiting for the “next thing”. When I was twelve years old, I couldn’t wait to be a teenager. Then I couldn’t wait to be sixteen, to get my license, graduate high school and go to college. Marriage, a job, and kids all followed on my list.
