Could you volunteer at camp this summer?
Each summer since 1937, City Union Mission has been taking children from low-income families in the Kansas City area to Warsaw, Mo for a fun-filled week of camp. Camp CUMCITO, City Union Mission’s Camp in the Ozarks, balances providing a traditional camp atmosphere of swimming, hiking, crafts, and cookouts, with opportunities for Bible teaching, drama, songs, and gospel-centered teachable moments. Counselors and camp staff surround the children with love and consistent discipline, teaching them about Jesus and how to live a new life for Him.
As a camp volunteer, there are a number of positions to choose from, with lots of camper contact (counselor, assistant counselor, or big sibling), moderate levels of camper interaction (recreation, chapel, or craft staff), and low camper contact (kitchen staff, janitor, assistant janitor, canteen/laundry). There’s also the need for nurses registered in the state of Missouri, and a nurse’s assistant to help with bandages or scraped knees.
Karis Church is building a team to serve one week at camp this summer, from June 28 through July 4, 2015. We'll have the opportunity to serve children ages 4-6 years or 10-12 years old. We also have the chance to bring eligible children from Columbia with us to camp.
Summer positions are being filled now, so it's a perfect time to plan for a week at camp. You can learn more about Camp CUMCITO on the City Union Mission website.
To join the Karis at Camp CUMCITO team, email Brooke Bartlett or contact her on The City. You can also contact her if you have an eligible child to register as a camper.
