Karis Kids is Growing!

Harmony Zeichik, deacon over Karis Kids, is thrilled to share news about how the children's ministry in Karis is growing: There are a lot of exciting new changes this summer with Karis Kids. I don’t know how many of you were there when we did child dedications in May. If you missed it, we had the whole front of the room lined with new babies, children, and parents. This was awesome, and, with this growth, it was time to reevaluate Karis Kids.

Three main things will change in order to accommodate the growing number of children in Karis:

•  Additional classrooms •  New curriculum •  An increase in the number of Karis Kids workers

Classrooms: We are going to be adding two more classrooms to better spread out our kids and provide a better child-to-adult ratio in each classroom. A special work day is planned for Saturday, July 6, to get all the classrooms cleaned and ready to go. We'd love it if you could help clean that day.

Curriculum: We are also going to be changing our curriculum to Gospel Story for Kids. This is not only user-friendly, but it provides a more theologically based approach in presenting the gospel story for kids. The new curriculum provides clear outlines each week, which will lighten the load for teachers as they prepare for each Sunday.

Workers: The last big change with Karis Kids is the need for more people to serve. Each Sunday will require 12 people serving with Karis Kids to ensure there are enough people working with the children. This is a lot of people each week. Members who are interested in serving with kids can simply fill out a background check and we would be excited to get you on the rotation and serving. For anyone who is not yet a member, we encourage you to move towards membership. In the meantime, you can still help serve each week by praying for our kids and the families that come to Karis.

While these changes bring on a lot of new things, I am really excited about the growth we are seeing with kids. I am really excited to have Liz Easton, a Karis intern, working closely with me in Karis Kids, as well as Katie McCune and Maureen Harris who make up the Karis Kids leadership team. These ladies will be helping me make sure that everything is going well with kids and we are staying on top of things.

I am so grateful for everyone who works with Karis Kids and I am excited as we continue to grow as a church body!

The newly expanded Karis Kids officially kicks off on Sunday, July 7, 2013. If you have questions about how you can serve with Karis Kids, email Harmony.
