Coming this February: The Gospel in Color

February will be an exciting month in the life of Karis Church. We’ll have four guest preachers and teachers joining us each of the month’s Sundays. We’ll look at “The Gospel in Color” together.

On February 3, Jon Nelson will kick it off for us. He’ll preach from John 12:1-11 and lead a workshop over lunch entitled “Beyond Reconciliation to Justice.” Jon is the Lead Pastor of Soma Community Church of Jefferson City.

D’Markus Thomas-Brown will be our guest February 10th. He’ll preach from John 12:12-19. His workshop will take on this topic: “Our City’s Difficult History and Current Challenges.” He is Lead Pastor of Convergence Church here in Columbia.

Next up will be Karis Church’s own Darren Swanson on Feb. 17th. He’ll preach John 12:20-36. “A Biblical Vision for Ethnic Diversity” will be his workshop topic.

Last but not least, Michael Byrd from Faith Community Bible Church of St. Louis will be joining us. On February 24th, he’ll preach from John 12:37-50. His session following will be entitled, “Life in the Minority Culture.”

I hope you can join us for all four Sundays. Registration for the workshops will be posted soon. In addition, we’ll join in another Karis “One Read.” One Blood by John Perkins will be our book. Grab the book here and begin reading.

Karis Kids will also utilize this fine resource from my friend Jarvis Williams in February. “The Gospel in Color” introduces children to the topic of racial reconciliation. You can get the kids’ version here. There is also one for adults and parents here.

Join us this February as we consider this truth. Racial reconciliation isn’t optional. It’s a gospel issue.
