Kids Helping Kids

Safe Families for Children is a local parter of Karis Church, where Karis members volunteer to support families in crisis. Read more below about how Karis Kids have been involved with their families!

One thing that is unique about Safe Families is that it is a ministry for the whole family. It's not just about adults helping, but kids helping, too! Everyone can play a part in helping vulnerable families and children. Read the stories below about a few Karis Kids and their families who have been volunteering with Safe Families.

The Mitchell Family is an approved Host Family with Safe Families. In December, a mom whom Safe Families had previously served was in need of Christmas presents for 6 additional kids staying with her. With so many extra kids, she was finding it difficult to find the resources to provide gifts for them. The deadlines for local programs had already passed, so a request was sent out to Safe Families volunteers. When the Mitchell family found out that some children were in need of toys for Christmas, Allie and Gavin went through their own collection of toys and donated some they thought the kids would like. Allie and Gavin's big hearts helped to make the children's Christmas a little brighter.

Jaylyn Wilson is the Safe Families Prayer Team Leader. She helps to keep prayer at the forefront of the ministry and sends requests out to volunteers. Every year for Christmas, her family finds a charity to which to give. This year they decided to support Safe Families for Children and buy some items for the Resource Room at Karis. Her son used his giving money to buy pacifiers and teethers and also donated some trucks he no longer plays with. With their generosity Safe Families has even more items available as hostings arise. It truly takes a village to walk alongside families in need, and everyone can play a role. In every season of life, in big ways and in small, there are so many ways to be involved in Safe Families and be a part of someone else’s village.
