Returning to the Vine: Questions to Ask Ourselves

Over the past month, Pastor Kevin has preached from John 15 addressing how the COVID crisis of the last year can lead to something much better than normal. Each week he left us with a few questions to ask ourselves as we ponder and pray about our response.

Week 1

  1. What things has the Spirit revealed in your life over the past year, and how should you repent of those?

  2. What gifts has the Father given during this season - and how can you receive them and flourish in them moving ahead?

  3. In what ways can you abide in Jesus going forward - in your private life, as well as your corporate life here? What would that look like?

  4. How do you need to receive the Father’s grace in Jesus after the never-ending year we’ve been through?

  5. Do you believe God can use these trials to bring change and renewal - in you and us? Will you pray for that?

Week 2

  1. What has God revealed to you about your sin toward others during this pandemic? In what ways have you been more motivated by self-love?

  2. In what ways is God calling you back into community? How can you root yourself more deeply into His family and live out His calling to love?

  3. What has the Spirit taught you during this time about your need for His people and His calling to love? What pandemic practices can you count as blessings and carry over?

  4. Do you believe God can use this trial to renew our love for this family and our city? Will you pray that God might do that?

Week 3

  1. As you look at your life over the past couple years, what are ways you need to repent? How have you been caught up in the spirit of the age?

  2. How might God be calling you back into fruit-bearing mission? What are ways you’ve served in your own strength? How have you shied away from mission out of fear?

  3. How does your understanding of the gospel need to change? Have you placed too much hope in the kings and kingdoms of this world?

  4. What are ways you might sense God pruning you? How might he be growing you? Or how might he be revealing to you that you’re not a Christian at all?
