"And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him." - Mark 16:2-6

In just a few weeks, churches all over the globe will be celebrating the hope found in these words. The greatest part of the story is that this actually happened. God really became a man, he actually walked the earth and after his horrifying death, he was resurrected just as the Bible says. From that day on, countless men and women have found true forgiveness and everlasting hope in the events that unfurled on the very first Easter weekend: and the same is available to you. 

Karis Church would like to invite you to celebrate Easter weekend with our family. We will begin with a special Good Friday Gathering on March 30th at 6:30 PM. Good Friday is a holiday focused on remembrance and repentance. During this event, we come together to take communion, worship through song and hear about Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Your children are welcome to join you for this event, and our Good Friday Gatherings are shorter in length to accommodate families with children.

Speaking of children, your kids are sure to love our Saturday event! Karis Church will be hosting not one, but two Easter egg hunts on the front lawn of Karis Church. In an attempt to ensure all children can participate in Easter fun, the first egg hunt of the day will be geared towards children with special needs and disabilities. This egg hunt begins at 9 AM on March 31st and will include a quieter, slower-paced hunt with eggs safe for children with dietary restrictions. At 10:30 AM, an Easter Egg hunt open to all children will begin. This event is free, and your children don't need to bring anything with them other than a basket or sack for carrying their eggs!

Last, but not least, we would love to have you join us on Sunday morning for our weekly Gathering.  On April 1st we will meet together at 1703 West Worley Street to celebrate the risen King Jesus! Karis Church has two identical Gatherings that morning at 9 AM and 11 AM for prayer, musical worship and a special Easter message from Pastor Kevin Larson. In addition, a short family photo session with a professional photographer will be available for FREE to all who attend the Gathering on Easter Sunday!

As we worship the Savior who rose from the dead, we also celebrate our own transition from death to life with Baptism. At 10:30 am on Easter Sunday, Karis Church will have a time set aside for Baptisms. I'm new. What should I expect on Sunday Morning?

We frequently receive first-time visitors on Easter Sunday. We understand if you are feeling nervous about checking out a new church for the first time, so here's some information you might find helpful.

What about my kids?

If you have children, they are welcome to attend the Gathering with you. We are always happy to see kids listening to the sermon with the adults! However, we believe that kids can also benefit from Bible teaching adapted to their age and maturity level. Our Karis Kids classrooms have background-checked teachers and Bible lessons tailored to each age group. Infants through 5th grade are welcome in Karis Kids. Head to the lobby area when you arrive to register your kids for one of our classrooms!

Will I be singled out as a first-timer?

We know that some churches like to have visitors stand up, raise their hands or something like that. We don't feel like that's necessary, and you won't be publicly singled out your first time at Karis. However, don't be surprised if somebody wants to shake your hand and ask your name before the sermon starts! We just want to learn more about you and help you learn more about us. 

What should I wear?

A lot of people enjoy dressing up for Easter Sunday, so you may see some people dressed in nice slacks or dresses. However, you are just as likely to see men and women in jeans and sneakers. We aren't concerned about what you wear,  so put on whatever you think is most comfortable and join us!

Other helpful information

If you show up a little tired, there is free Shortwave coffee downstairs. Help yourself to as much coffee as you like! And yes, you can bring your coffee into the auditorium! 

With the exception of our handicap parking, there is no assigned parking at Karis. Park in our lot wherever you like, and those attending our church also have permission to park in one of the two school parking lots across the street.
